We’ve a full programme of talks and demonstrations to inspire you, including flower arranging with Jonathan Moseley from the BBC’s The Big Allotment Challenge, and talks from a selection of the best nurseries.
RHS Garden Harlow Carr in Yorkshire covers 27.5 hectares (68 acres). Set in a valley and very much a part of the Yorkshire countryside, the garden has a wide variety of growing landscapes, from running and still water to woodland and wildflower meadows.
Acidic soil affords a fabulous environment for rhododendrons and Himalayan blue poppies, while visitors can be inspired if they have to contend with similar weather conditions – cold, drying winter winds, deep frosts, a cooler, shorter growing season and lots of wet weather.
Don’t miss the chance to explore the garden, where highlights include thousands of dolly-mixture candelabra primulas along the Streamside – one of the longest streamside gardens in the country.
You can also see the pom-pom heads of almost 8,000 alliums standing to attention in the Main Border. Don’t forget your camera!
There’ll be plenty of opportunities to recharge the batteries with a cup of tea and delicious cake at Bettys Cafe Tea Rooms or Bettys Tea House in the heart of the garden.
Admission: Adult £9.90, Child (under 16’s) £4.95, Family £25.00, Companion of Disabled Visitor Free, RHS members Free.
