Plant Hunters Fair Chillington Hall
7th May @ 11:00 am - 4:00 pm£4.00
A brand new venue, Chillington Hall in Staffordshire for this year – and what a beautiful place it is too. I visited this wonderful house through the HHA (Historic Houses Association) several years ago and again visited it in September last year as part of my “investigations” on Capability Brown. The gardens stretch around the Hall and in May the woodland and avenues will be awash with bluebells and other native wild flowers.
Chillington Hall has been the family home of the Giffards for over 800 years. The present house is a product of two differing Georgian styles by architects Francis Smith and Sir John Soane. The Grounds surrounding the Hall, including The Pool, were landscaped by Capability Brown.
We have a great array of plant specialists attending, some from Cheshire, others from Derbyshire and Shropshire and Staffordshire too. A total of 12 nurseries and two great accessory stands will be waiting to greet you in the farm yard (see image above). All the nurseries offer you huge choice of plants for sale, all grown by themselves and of course suitable for your gardens. Please ask them for advice as to the best position to put your plants in, how to prune, propagate, etc.
For those of you who like a walk, go down to the most amazing Capability Brown lake and bridges. We shall be holding the fair in the recently restored (and magnificent) Home Farm. There is a cafe there offering light refreshments, hot and cold drinks and there are toilets in the old farm buildings too.
A wonderful opportunity to find locally sourced plants from quality suppliers and explore Chillington’s own grounds. For more information please see Chillington Flower Power Fair for more information.
Admission: Adults £4.00, for grounds, gardens and plant fair is £4.00.
